08/12/2007 - Tulsa, OK (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - One day after Tiger Woods threatened the lowest score in major championship history, Boo Weekley put up a number that would have been the talk of Tulsa.
On Saturday, Weekley fired a five-under 65 and moved all the way up to a tie for sixth place.
"I had a good day and it was fun," said Weekley. "I kept in play today. That's the difference in the last few days, if you can keep it in play, for me it's a lot easier to score here."
Weekley got up and down for par at his first three holes, but went over the green at four and could not recover. He holed a six-footer for birdie at six and a 15-footer at nine, but really got going on the back nine.
He birdied four in a five-hole span from the 11th, then reached one-under for the championship with an eight-foot birdie putt at 17.
Weekley had a chance to match Woods' 63 from Friday, but he three-putted the 18th green for a bogey to finish at even-par 210.
Weekley won this year's Heritage, but really rose to prominence with a good first two rounds at the British Open.
His Southern drawl and simple ways have endeared him to fans. Here are some of the highlights from his post-round press conference on Saturday.
When asked about playing on the Presidents Cup team:
"That would be great. I don't know where I am on the points. I haven't got a clue."
Next year's Ryder Cup team:
"If they invite me to come play, I'll come play. But, no, I really don't know a whole lot about it. I've seen some clips of it. I think Justin Leonard made a putt or something. That's about the only thing I remember of the Ryder Cup stuff."
Catching Tiger Woods:
"I don't know. The good Lord knows that answer. I couldn't tell you, you know. Anything's possible. He's human, ain't he?
Being in the FedEx Cup playoffs:
"I don't know nothing about the FedExCup and I just know I'm playing golf and that's all that matters to me."
His long-term career plans:
"I want to play 10, 12 years, whatever it takes to get enough money in my bank. I'm done. I love to play the game, but my heart is really with hunting and fishing."
TOUGH MAJOR YEAR
Sergio Garcia was disqualified from the PGA Championship on Saturday for signing an incorrect scorecard.
Garcia signed for a par four at the 17th, but actually made five. He should have shot a four-over 74, which would have given him 54 holes at nine-over par. Instead Garcia signed for a three-over 73.
This has been a tough run of major championships for the Spaniard. He held the lead throughout the British Open Championship last month and needed a par on his last to win his first major.
Garcia missed a six-foot par save, then lost by a stroke to Padraig Harrington in the playoff.
He missed the cut at both the Masters and U.S. Open.
When Garcia lost the playoff at Carnoustie, he went on a bizarre rant blaming the raker in the group ahead and, apparently, the golf gods. He said "I'm playing against a lot of guys out there, more than the field."
On Saturday, Garcia's playing partner, Weekley, marked down the wrong score.
ELS SAYS IT'S OVER
If you ever wondered what fellow golf stars think when Tiger Woods takes the lead in a major championship, look no further than the comments from the No. 4 player in the world.
Ernie Els has three major championships to his credit. He is only six shots off Woods' lead, but does not give himself much chance come Sunday afternoon.
"He's unbelievably solid at the moment, as we all can see, and full of a lot of confidence," said Els. "So as a competitor, I want to say no, you can't ever think it's over. So I need to shoot something unbelievable and he's gotta make mistakes."
Els was then asked if he wasn't a competitor, what would he think?
"How can I put it? Yeah. If I was not a golfer, a fan on the couch, I'd be putting my house on him, yeah," he said.
* The Presidents Cup teams will be finalized Sunday. For the International side, Stephen Ames and John Senden are the highest internationals at the PGA Championship, but neither is in the top 10 on the points list. Ames is 19th and Senden 25th, so maybe they can catch the eye of captain Gary Player.
* For the U.S. side, a two-way tie for second by Woody Austin would give him 1,232,000 points towards the United States team and he would have a total of 6,381,765 points, 10th overall. Lucas Glover is currently 10th with 6,207,895 points, but sits T63 entering the final round.
* With Vijay Singh missing the cut, Tiger Woods is guaranteed to be the No. 1 seed for the upcoming FedEx Cup playoff race.
* If Woods can hold on Sunday and it's a good bet since he was won all 12 major titles with at least a piece of the 54-hole lead, Woods win only his second major on a par-72 track. His other came at the 2002 U.S. Open at Bethpage Black.
* There were no bogey-free rounds on Saturday.
* Temperatures soared into the triple digits for the third straight day.
* The easiest hole for the week remained the par-five 13th, which is playing to an average of 4.53.
* The hardest hole was once again the par-four closing hole. It has played to an average of 4.32 and there have been only nine birdies there for the championship.

The AFC South and the NFC East are the favorite divisions to have the next Super Bowl champ among them in the NFL betting odds. But more down to the point, these football odds are in favor of the Indianapolis Colts, by far the strongest team in the AFC South, and the Dallas Cowboys of the NFC East.
Most sports fans would agree that these two teams top the list to win it all before the season even begins. In the BetUS Sportsbook football futures, the Colts are +800 in the odds to win the Super Bowl, while the Cowboys are sitting at +1000 and the Super Bowl XLIV champions New Orleans Saints at +900. In the AFC South, the Colts won the division for five straight years after the 2002 realignment, before the Tennessee Titans won it in 2008. But the Colts came back strong in 2009 to win the division again en route to the Super Bowl. The Cowboys are the favorite to win the NFC East, as well as to advance far into the post season. The Cowboys won the division last season before their horrendous loss in the NFC Divisional playoff to Brett Favre and the Minnesota Vikings. But the ‘Boys will take that loss humbly and be ready for the playoffs this time around.
The NFC South is also very strong, at +600 in the NFL futures, considering that it is home to the defending Super Bowl champions. However, some predictions have the Atlanta Falcons with possibilities of claiming the divisional title this season in place of the Saints, as no team has won back-to-back division championships since the division realignment took place. Let’s not overlook the AFC North at +500. As TO goes to Cincinnati to join Chad OchoCinco and Adam “Pac-Man” Jones, this team looks to claim the division title again. And it is likely they will do so. The Bengals lost in the AFC Wild Card spot in a hard-fought battle against the New York Jets last season. Lest not forget the Pittsburgh Steelers, the XLII Super Bowl Champions… All these teams present interesting odds and matchups for the upcoming season, but the safest and surest bet seems to be with the Colts in the AFC South and the Cowboys in the NFC East.
