Twilight shadows hold down All-Star scoring

ANAHEIM, Calif. (AP) -Until the sun finally went down on Angel Stadium, the 81st All-Star game was just another boring chapter of the twilight saga.

Sunlight slivers and shadows across the field made the first few innings of the midsummer classic pretty miserable Tuesday night for baseball's best hitters, who clearly had trouble seeing pitches in the gloaming.

The leagues combined for just one unearned run in the first six innings of the NL's 3-1 victory, which only really got exciting under Anaheim's artificial lights.

Shortly before Tampa Bay's David Price took the mound around 5:45 p.m. local time, a band of sunlight shone between the shadows covering the mound and the plate.
